Pricing · Marketing company fees
How Hong Kong marketing company fees are usually structured
Marketing fees are quoted from scope. You will usually see three different numbers: a project fee, a monthly retainer, and media spend that is not the agency’s fee. A small social or content retainer can start from a few thousand Hong Kong dollars. A combined month that includes strategy, SEO, content, and reporting often sits around HK$10,000 to several tens of thousands. These are market directions, not a fixed price list.
Separate the three fees before you compare
- Project fee: a website, a brand reset, or a defined build. Website ranges are in the website design fee guide.
- Monthly retainer: social publishing, SEO, content, and reporting. The deliverable should name how many pages or posts, who approves them, and what the weekly review covers.
- Media fee: the money paid to an ad platform. It is not the same invoice as the management fee. Ask whether management is a flat fee, a percentage of spend, or a mix, and keep the ad account in the client’s name when you can.
A cheaper month is not automatically better. Very low retainers often mean template posts, no review, or a scope so narrow that the report cannot explain enquiries. Compare the output definition and who owns the assets.
How trafficholic’s own reference sits inside that market
Social media is quoted from HK$10,000 per month for Instagram and Threads together, after setup and a trial. Formal billing starts when that trial direction is right. SEO is quoted from the audit and the pages required, not from a universal monthly sticker. The public pricing reference explains the quote steps: understand the need, plan the work, price from cost and difficulty, agree, then start.
A one-year lock-in can look cheaper and still be the wrong contract if the deliverable is vague. A one- to three-month trial is a cleaner way to see the rhythm before a long term.
Marketing fee questions
Should SEO and social be one invoice?
They can be one engagement. The schedule should still split the work, so you can see what each line is producing. SEO and social fail for different reasons.
Is ad spend included in the retainer?
Usually no. Treat media spend as its own line and ask for a report you can reconcile with the platform. A management fee on top of spend should be written down before the campaign starts.
What should I send for a quote?
Industry, current channels, the result you want (recognition or enquiries), and a budget band. We will say whether the first step is social, search, the website, or a smaller trial. Use contact.
