AI Search

GEO and SEO answer different questions

SEO asks whether Google lists you. GEO asks whether an AI answer can describe you without inventing a competitor. Neither one guarantees a sale.

Teams mix these up because both involve “being found”. SEO is the work of earning a place in a search result for a query you can name. GEO is the work of making your public facts consistent enough that an AI answer can cite them. A ranking does not prove a citation. A citation does not prove an enquiry.

What to make consistent

Use one business name, one description of the offer, and one location story on the website and on the profiles you control. Pages should answer the customer’s question in the first screen, then give the proof. Vague slogans are hard for both Google and an AI answer to quote.

What not to buy

Do not buy a guarantee that ChatGPT will mention you. The models change, and the sources they prefer are not a contract. Buy a check of the entity, a set of pages worth citing, and a way to reread the answers later. If the site cannot yet explain the service, do that before you expand GEO.
